It is now week 3 and I think I know the students fairly well.
I finally memorized all of their names! This is so exciting for me, I finally reached a goal of mine. The students all seem really suprised when I know their names!
This week my goal (besides learning names) was to find out how the students solve their problems. I learned about a process called " You break it, You Fix it "... In other words, If you create a problem , it's your responsability to fix it. This concept i noticed is quite difficult for second graders. Let me explain why...
At the age of these children, it is very easy for them to say something they do not nessesarily mean. A lot of words sometimes even come off mean without the intentions of being mean. This causes a lot of "tattleing". Well at this age. It is important to teach students how to start solving their own problems. So, instead of a teacher handeling a very minor issue , she may have the student take certian steps to fix the problem they might have created. (Steps shown in the picture attached)
In the image attached to the picture, Miss Loless came up with situations in which the students might have to solve their own problems.
These situations include:
Calling someone an ugly name
Making fun of someone else's work
Pushed or hit a friend
All of the solutions in this image were created by the students themselves... how cool ???:)
